  1. My camera will not turn on. Is there anything that I can do?  top

  2. If your camera will not turn on, please ensure that you have inserted three 1.5V AAA Alkaline batteries correctly. Additionally, make sure that you use new or fully charged batteries. Your device may not turn on if there is not enough charge left in the batteries.



  3. Does my camera have built-in memory?  top

  4. This device has a 32MB internal memory (no memory card is needed for basic operation). To expand the capacity, you can insert a MMC/SD card to the memory card slot.


  5. What kind of memory card does my Mustek DV 5300SE camera use?  top

  6. Your Mustek camera can support both SD and MMC card.

    Please note: In order to use SD/MMC cards with your camera, you will need to make sure that the card is "unlocked" and your antivirus software in your computer is disabled.

    You can purchase memory cards directly from Mustek at: www.MustekDirect.com

    Additionally, you can find SD and MMC cards at any local computer, camera or electronics stores.


  7. How do I delete pictures from my DV 5300SE camera?  top

  8. Option 1: Power on the camera and switch the Mode dial to Playback. Press “Menu” button and choose from the following options:

    Delete one: delete a current selected picture, video, or MP3/WMA file.
    Delete all: delete all pictures, videos, and MP3/WMA files.
    Format: delete all files in the internal memory/memory card.

    Option 2: Connect your camera to a computer with the USB cable provided in the package. Go to My Computers and double click “Removable disk”. Open the folder that contains the file you wish to delete. Select the file and click delete.


  9. How do I transfer pictures from my Mustek camera to my computer?  top

  10. Use the USB cable provided in the package to connect your camera to a computer. Once connected and powered on, choose the "Mass Storage" option on your camera's LCD screen and press `OK.' Follow the instructions below:

    Make sure you connect to the back of your computer and NOT to a USB hub.

    1. Go to MY COMPUTER.
    2. Double-click the REMOVABLE DISK drive.
    3. Double-click the DCIM folder.
    4. Double-click the 100Media folder.
    5. Click on EDIT then click on SELECT ALL (all files will be highlighted).
    6. Click on EDIT and then click on COPY.
    7. Now open the folder in which you wish to transfer the files to.
    8. Click on EDIT then click on PASTE.

    Your pictures and video are now transferred to your computer.

    NOTE: DO NOT change any file names in the 100Media folder. This will cause the camera or memory card to malfunction.


  11. I have a Macintosh computer. How do I transfer my pictures and video to my computer?  top

  12. Use the USB cable provided in the package to connect your camera to a computer. Once connected and powered on, choose the "Mass Storage" option on your camera's LCD screen and press `OK.' Follow the instructions below:

    Make sure you connect to the back of your computer and NOT to a USB hub.

    1. Double-click "Untitled" or "Unlabeled" icon
    2. Double-click the DCIM folder.
    3. Double-click the 100Media folder.
    4. Select the file(s) you want to transfer
    5. Go to the EDIT menu and click COPY
    6. Locate the desired location you wish to transfer file to.
    7. Go to the EDIT menu Click PASTE.

    When finish, drag the "untitled" disk to the trash and disconnect your camera.

    NOTE: DO NOT change any file names in the 100Media folder. This may cause the memory card and camera to malfunction.


  13. When I connect my Mustek camera to a TV, I cannot see any picture on my TV screen. What can I do?  top

  14. After you have connected your Mustek camera to your television, you will need to find the correct video channel on your television before you can see any output on your television screen. To find the video channel on your television, look for a button on the remote for the TV that says 'video', 'input', or 'auxiliary'. Press this button until you see an output from your Mustek product to your television. If this does not work for you, you may need to contact your television manufacturer or consult the users' guide for your TV.


  15. When I connect my Mustek camera to my television, the picture scrolls and/or the picture I see is black and white. What is the problem?  top

  16. You need to change the TV system setting on your camera from PAL to NTSC. Please follow the instruction below.

    1. Switch the mode dial to Setup.
    2. Use the control button to scroll down and select TV System. Press the control button once to confirm your selection
    3. Use the control button to switch the setting to NTSC. Press the button once to confirm your selection.
    4. Connect your camera to a television.



  17. When I connect my camera to the computer, the console opens and gives me an error message(s). One of the messages states that the "thumbnails could not be loaded." How can I fix this?  top

  18. If the Console program states that your camera is not connected and can not load any thumbnails OR if the camera is not detected by your computer, please follow the instructions below:

    IF YOU ARE RUNNING WINDOWS 98 OR ME:

    Make sure the camera is NOT connected to your computer.

    1. Right-click on MY COMPUTER icon.
    2. Left-click on PROPERTIES.
    3. Click DEVICE MANAGER Tab.
    4. Turn the camera on and connect it to an available USB port (DO NOT connect the camera through a USB HUB).
    5. In the DEVICE MANAGER, look for any devices that appear after the camera is connected. The device will have a yellow exclamation point or yellow question mark next to it. If you do not see any devices appear, please press MODE button on the camera (pressing this button will toggle the camera between Mass Storage and PC Camera modes).
    6. If the device is called "USB device" or "Unknown device", double-click it.
    7. Click REINSTALL DRIVER.
    8. Click NEXT, OK or FINISH until the drivers are updated successfully.


    IF YOU ARE RUNNING WINDOWS 2000 OR XP:

    Make sure the camera is NOT connected to your computer.

    1. Right-click on MY COMPUTER.
    2. Left-click on PROPERTIES.
    3. Click HARDWARE tab.
    4. Click DEVICE MANAGER
    5. Turn the camera on and connect it to an available USB port (DO NOT connect the camera through a USB HUB).
    6. In the DEVICE MANAGER, look for any devices that appear after you connect the camera. The device will have a yellow exclamation point or yellow question mark next to it. If you do not see any such devices, press the MODE button on the camera (pressing this button will toggle the camera between Mass Storage and PC Camera modes).
    7. If the device is called "USB device" or "Unknown device", double-click it.
    8. Click REINSTALL DRIVER.
    9. Click NEXT, OK or FINISH until the drivers are updated successfully.


    NOTE: During this process, the CONSOLE may open up automatically saying the camera is not connected, simply close the CONSOLE. After closing the CONSOLE, a "Found New Hardware" window may appear, simply click NEXT, OK or FINISH until the drivers are installed. Once the drivers are installed, close all windows/programs and restart your computer (keep your camera powered on and connected to the computer). Now, you should be able to access the pictures in the CONSOLE.


  19. How do I copy music files to my Mustek camera?  top

  20. DV5300SE can play both WMA and MP3 files. Make sure you copy your files to Music folder of camera’s internal memory/external memory card. Instructions are the following:

    1. Open the folder where your MP3/WMA files are located.
    2. Plug the camera into your computer and make sure it is on.
    3. Go to MY COMPUTER.
    4. Double-click the REMOVABLE DISK drive.
    5. Double-click the music folder
    6. Drag and drop the MP3/WMA files from the folder where your files are located into the Music folder of your camera's internal memory.

    TO PLAY MUSIC ON YOUR CAMERA:

    Turn on your camera, switch to the Music Player mode and select a file to play.

    NOTE: DO NOT add files or change the file names in the 100Media folder. This can cause the memory card to malfunction.


  21. How do I connect my camera to a printer?  top

  22. The direct print function will only work with printers designed for this feature. Printers that support this feature will be labeled as "PictBridge" compatible. This function will not work with regular printers so you will not be able to connect your camera to them and print.


  23. How do I protect a file from accidental delete?  top

    1. Set the Mode dial to Playback
    2. Press the Menu button
    3. Use the Control button to scroll up and down to find Lock icon
    4. Select the Lock icon and press the Control button once to confirm
    5. Go back to the file you wish to lock or unlock
    6. Press the Control button once to confirm
    7. Press Menu button at anytime to exit



  24. What operating systems can Mass Storage support?  top

    1. Windows 98SE/ME/2000 SP3 or above /XP
    2. Mac OS 9.X and 10.1 or above



  25. What is motion detection recording?  top

  26. This feature allows users to set the camera at one location. The camera will start recording automatically when it detects motion and stop when no motion is detected.

    When the motion is detected, a countdown symbol will appear on the LCD screen. After 3 seconds, it will start recording. Note: Motion detect only works within short range of distance.


  27. What is digital image stabilizer?  top

  28. This feature helps reduce shaking during video recording.


  29. How to apply Scene to photo?  top

    1. Set the Mode dial to Take Photo
    2. Press the Menu button
    3. Use the Control button to navigate to Photo
    4. Use the Control button to scroll down to Scene and choose from the following options:
      • Auto: Adjusts scene automatically
      • Landscape: Enhances the contrast of image color for the vivid landscape photo
      • Sports: Captures fast-moving
      • Night Shutter: Sharpens the portrait with dark background in dark places
      • Beach & Ski: Captures objects under bright sunlight
      • Sunset & Moon: Captures objects under sunset or moon lighting environments



  30. How do I adjust the flash setting on my camera?   top

  31. Simply move the Control button to the right. Keep moving the button until you see your preferred setting (Auto Flash/Off). Press the Control button firmly to confirm your selection. Note: Please refer to the sticker. (The sticker can be seen when you flip out the LCD screen)


  32. How long does it take for my flash to recharge before I can take another picture?   top

  33. It takes approximately 4-5 seconds. When the flash is recharging, the Flash icon will be blinking. The icon will stay on when the camera is ready to take another picture.


  34. How do I insert or remove the memory card?   top

  35. To Insert:

    1. Flip open the memory card slot cover (located beneath the flash).
    2. Insert and press the memory card into the memory slot.
      Note: Tilted-edge side up and toward the memory slot.
    3. Press down to secure the card.
    4. Close the memory slot cover.

To Remove:

  1. Flip open the memory card slot cover (located beneath the flash).
  2. Press and release the memory card.
  3. Withdraw the memory from the slot.

  1. What should I do if the LCD screen does not turn on?   top

  2. The LCD screen will be off automatically due to the auto power saving feature. Simply press the Menu button to get back to the original screen.


  1. I cannot find the rebate form in my package. Where is it? Or, how do I get another copy?   top

  2. Please call Mustek rebate center to request another copy. Mustek will not post the rebate form on the website since it is the special offer for HSN only.
