1. Is there a firmware update for the DVD-R100A?

Once you get to the webpage, simply follow the instructions to update your DVD-R100A

This update will enable the DVD-R100A to read additional brands of DVD+R/RW disks. However, we do not have a list of brands that will be added with this update.


2. How do I connect my DVD player to the Television for Video?

First you will want to determine what connections are available on both your DVD player and television set. Your Television set must have one of the following connections in order to connect your DVD player. The connections on the rear of one of our models are shown in fig 1.1 below. Your television set must have at least one of these connections to work with the DVD player. Please consult the DVD/Home theater quick guide that came with your unit for setting up your specific model. 

  1. Component video /RGB /VYU – (Best Quality) Least common connection requires a recent high-end television set. *Note* Progressive Scan Compatible TV is required to use the Progressive Scan feature.
  2. S-Video – Fairly common on newer television sets and provides very good picture quality. Most DVD players come with this option.
  3. Composite Video – Most common and provides good picture quality (All dvd players have this connection)
  4. Coaxial Cable Connection - Used with this DVD recorder to Connect Cable/Antenna in  order to record from Live Television.
  5. RF Modulator* - Required if your Television does not have Audio/Video Inputs.

3. What if my television does not have Audio/Video inputs?

If you have a Television that does not have any Audio/Video Inputs you will need to use what is known as a RF MODULATOR. There are numerous ways you can connect your DVD player to your Television with a RF MODULATOR. 4. How do I connect my DVD player for audio?

You will need to determine what connections your DVD player has (see Fig 1.1) and what type of audio connection you desire.  The digital audio and surround sound will require a stereo receiver with the proper inputs.  Please consult the DVD/Home theater quick guide that came with your unit for setting up your specific model. 

  1. Digital Audio – (Best sound quality). Will require a receiver with Digital audio inputs in order to utilize.
  2. Stereo Audio – Good sound using two speakers (right and left) to produce stereo sound. Can be connected directly to the television set without a receiver. The cables for this connection usually are RED and WHITE.
 

5. How do I access the DVD players setup menu?

Using the remote control for the DVD player press the SETUP button. This will take you to the setup menu where you will have the following options: Language setup, Video setup, Audio setup, System Info, Disc Media, Recording, and Schedule (See Figure 5.1). This menu is where you will set the DVD-R100A  player to the desired setting from the previously listed categories.  Please consult your DVD-R100A Manual and  Quick Guide for more detailed information.

6. How do I set the date and time on the R100A?

It is very important that you set the date and time on your new DVD-R100A as soon as possible. Then you can start using the timer recording function and make the most of your DVD recorder.

Please follow these steps to set the date and time with the DVD-R100:

Step 1: Enter the Setup Mode by pressing SETUP on the remote control.

Step 2: Using the Remote control Cursor keys scroll down to "System Info" and press Enter

Step 3: Using the Remote control Cursor keys Set the time and the date and press Enter

Step 4: To finish and exit press SETUP on the remote control.


7. What blank media do I use to record with the R100A?

The DVD-R100A Recorder will us only DVD+R and DVD+RW media to record. However the recorder will playback the following formats:
DVD-R/ DVD-RW/ DVD+R/ DVD+RW/ DVD/ CD/ CDR/ CDRW/ MP3/ VCD.


8. When I play a DVD movie why is the picture rolling/scrolling or in Black and White?

Cause: The DVD player might be set to PAL setting which is not compatible with our regions Televisions which are NTSC.

Solution: Using the remote control for your DVD player press the TV SYS button once. This button is located on the right of the power button. The television picture should clear up and you should now be able to watch your DVD.

9. What is the difference between DVD mode and REC mode?

The DVD-R100A DVD recorder has two modes which it can operate under.

The First Mode is the DVD mode. This mode is the most common mode as the unit will perform as a Standard DVD Player.

The Second Mode is the REC mode. This mode is used to view the different inputs that are connected to the DVD-R100A from which you can RECORD. The different modes you can select are listed below:

**Use the SOURCE button on the remote control to cycle though the modes.

1. CVBS - Composite Video (RCA Inputs-YELLOW, RED, WHITE)

2. S-VIDEO - Super-Video Input

3. Antenna/Cable - TV Tuner Mode (example CH 003)


10. What functions can be performed with my DVD player remote?

11. How do I connect my Digital Cable, Satellite TV, or Standard Cable box to my DVD Recorder?

If you have a Television that has A / V or S-Video Inputs and a Satellite TV, Digital Cable or Stand Cable Box, there are numerous ways you can connect your DVD recorder to your TV and your satellite or Cable box to your Player. 12. Will my recorded DVD work with other DVD players?

Yes, your new DVD made with the DVD-R100A will work with most all other DVD players. However if you used a DVD+R you will need to FINALIZE your recording. Please follow these steps to finalize your recording:

Step 1: Press SETUP on the remote control to bring up the setup menu

Step 2: Scroll with your remote controls CURSOR keys (arrow keys) to DISC MEDIA and press ENTER.

Step 3: Highlight FINALIZE and press ENTER. This will take several minutes please don't shut of the player are this time.

Step 4: Eject the DVD and try it on another DVD player.


13. Can I record a DVD movie from another DVD Player through the R100A?

No, DVD's are encrypted with a copyright protection known as Macrovision. If you  attempt to copy a copyrighted DVD from another player the DVD-R100A will report and ERROR usually in the form of a Triangle with the Letters CP (copy-protected). However you will be able to record from a VCR plugged into the inputs on the back of the DVD-R100A.

 


14. How do I set up the Schedule to Record at a certain time of day or different day?

To set up your DVD recorder to record at a certain date and time please follow these instructions:

Please make sure that you have set the DATE and TIME first. Please see Question 6.

Step 1: Enter the Setup Mode by pressing SETUP on the remote control.

Step 2: Using the Remote control Cursor keys scroll down to select "Schedule" and press Enter.

Step 3: Press ENTER on the remote to begin setting the Time and Duration of the recording.

Step 4: Using the Remote control Cursor keys scroll through each setting and use the Cursor keys to select the settings you wish.

Settings are:

1. DATE - Set a certain date to record or set it up for a Mon - Fri , daily, or weekly Mon, Tue...Sun.

2. Start Time - What time the recording will start.

3. Duration - Length of Recording

4. Source - Choose from COMP (composite/CVBS), S-VIDEO, or CHANNEL

5. Quality - Choose from HQ, SP, LP, EP, SLP


6. ON/OFF - set the schedule to be active ON or inactive OFF

Press "ENTER" once all settings have been set to save the schedule.

Step 5: To finish press the "setup button" to exit and save all settings.
