If
you are new to OCR, the answer is simple: OCR saves you time!
OCR,
an acronym for Optical Character Recognition, is a technology developed
to translate graphical text into editable text. This technology
is especially useful when scanning pages of printed text document.
For example, you have a paper document that you want to get onto
your computer to edit or to share with others via a web site E-mail.
Using the OCR software, you don't always have access to the electronic
version of the source document and besides, retyping documents is
very time consuming!

However, it only works best under specific conditions such as:
1)
When most text were typed or printed.
2) When the
text portion of an image were scanned at 300 dpi under Line Art
mode.
The
recognized text can be then saved under various editable text format
such as *.doc for Microsoft Word.
